Last Saturday was the 16th annual Comcast Cares Day. This post revisits the day from a local, Boston area perspective.
In Massachusetts alone, nearly 5,000 local Comcast NBCUniversal employees and their families, friends and community partners made change happen as they volunteered to improve 42 sites across Massachusetts as part of the 16th annual Comcast Cares Day.
We’re proud of the hard work by our employee volunteers, friends and family members on Comcast Cares Day and every day of the year they give back to the communities where our customers live and work. However, none of this would have been possible without great community partners.
Here’s what some of our community partners had to say about what Comcast Cares Day meant to them in their own words:
Judy Vreeland, Executive Director
The Learning Center for the Deaf
“This is going to mean so much to the kids. I’m really looking forward to when they come to school and see their cafeteria painted and see the grounds looking so beautiful.”
Sandra Lopez Burke, VP and Executive Director
City Year Boston
“Comcast NBCUniversal has shown extraordinary commitment to its community partners over the past 16 years with Comcast Cares Day. Events like this help revitalize spaces to reflect the type of bright, caring environment we want our students to grow up in. This year, it is especially meaningful to serve our students at the Burke High School and we’re grateful to all volunteers and Comcast for their continued partnership.”
Heather McMann, Executive Director
Groundwork Lawrence
“As our spring cleaning event, Groundwork Lawrence Earth Day / Comcast Cares Day gets a 1,000 people of all ages, from the youth in our schools to senior citizens, into Lawrence’s parks and open spaces. For Groundwork Lawrence, we see this as the beginning of our outdoor programming, ensuring that the spaces we use for the SALSA Festival, the farmers’ markets, the Greenway 5K, and all the events around the city, are clean for the start of summer. This is our ninth year partnering together, and we are so proud of Comcast’s commitment to Lawrence. Stewardship of our parks cannot be accomplished by one organization alone; however, with corporate and government support, we can achieve a cleaner and greener city.”
Thanks again to all of our volunteers and community partners. You can read more about Comcast Cares Day here and its positive impact throughout 900 different nonprofits in the US and around the Globe.
We’re already working on and looking forward to Comcast Cares Day 2018!
