Veterans Day is an opportunity for the entire nation to collectively thank and honor military members and their families for living a life dedicated to service, and at Comcast NBCUniversal, we are extending this gratitude to the military community throughout the year.
Since 2010, we have hired more than 13,000 Veterans, National Guard and Reserve members, and military spouses, including many who are graduates of our country’s military service academies. For example, in Comcast’s Greater Boston Region alone we have hired hundreds of military members and their spouses accounting for 10 percent of our total new hires in Massachusetts and New Hampshire since 2015. And dozens of our employees will be marching in the City of Boston’s Veterans Day Parade tomorrow.
Our company’s tradition of hiring and supporting our employees who actively serve the country in the National Guard and Reserve was recognized when the Department of Defense presented us with its highest honor for employers, the Freedom Award. Comcast NBCUniversal was one of only 15 companies honored out of a pool of 2,575 employers across all 50 states. Our Guard and Reserve employees give us a direct connection to the communities we serve, as evidenced by the work many of them did when they were activated by their military units to support federal recovery initiatives in Florida, Texas, Puerto Rico, and Louisiana, and the wildfire recovery efforts in California.
Everything Comcast NBCUniversal does to serve the military community is because of our belief that Service Matters – Service to Country, Service to Customers, Service to Communities. During this Veterans Day, and every day moving forward, we hope you join Comcast NBCUniversal in this tribute to those who have committed to living a life of service.
