This year is our 18th annual Comcast Cares Day, one of the largest corporate commitments to volunteerism and service in America, which benefits thousands of nonprofit organizations across the country and dozens around the world with volunteer support from employees, friends and families and nonprofit partners.
Locally, we’re preparing a series of impactful service projects for over 6,000 volunteers at more than 70 volunteer sites at public parks, Boys & Girls Clubs and schools in the Greater Boston Region alone from Dorchester, MA to Manchester, NH. Of note, this is our 10th Comcast Cares Day in a row in Lawrence, MA partnering with Groundwork Lawrence to clean up city parks in advance of the busy summer season.
Here’s a look at what we’ve been able to do in the last nine years:
“As we prepare to celebrate our 18th annual Comcast Cares Day, we are delighted to once again partner with Groundwork Lawrence to give back to our local community and further assist with the city’s recovery following last fall’s gas explosions,” said Rebecca Fracassa, Director of Community Impact for Comcast’s Greater Boston Region. “It is powerful to see how we can drive meaningful change by bringing together our employees, their friends and families, our community partners and even local residents in Lawrence. Together, we will work to make a positive difference in Lawrence and other communities we’ll touch as part of this year’s efforts.”
Comcast Cares Day is more than just a day – it is an illustration of the spirit of volunteerism that our employees bring to life each and every day. From using technology to create positive change, such as teaching digital literacy skills, to mentoring youth, to stocking food banks, to beautifying parks, Comcast NBCUniversal employees volunteer during this celebration and throughout the year to make a lasting impact. To date, more than 1 million Comcast Cares Day volunteers have contributed over 6 million service hours to improve local communities at more than 10,000 projects.
